T&M is providing Construction Management Services to Middlesex County for the construction of their stadium and student center on the Middlesex College campus. The stadium will seat approximately 6,500 people and is 3-stories tall and approximately 100,000 SF. It includes a Field Level with lockers, a gym, meeting rooms, and MEP/storage spaces, a Concourse Level with concessions, club boxes and public bathrooms, and a Press Level with outdoor viewing decks, offices, and press and private boxes. The synthetic turf field is designed to be used for minor league baseball, united league soccer and concerts.
The adjacent student center is a 2-story mixed-use building totaling approximately 25,000 SF. The first floor includes a large atrium and sports bar/café, culinary labs, food storage and prep areas, restrooms, offices, study/multipurpose spaces, media labs, and a lounge/game room. The second floor includes a food lab and classroom, food storage areas, offices, student lounge, restrooms, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the stadium field.
The site is approximately 32 acres and will include the demolition of existing buildings and the construction of parking areas, several stormwater basins and typical site improvements. The project was awarded at a cost of $126M and is scheduled to be completed in just under two years. A “digital twin” will be generated by the Contractor, in collaboration with T&M; this will be an electronic model of the site and buildings that will include every detail of construction, including product and maintenance information for the County’s use in maintaining the facilities. T&M has engaged Jacobs to augment T&M’s experience with stadium subject matter experts (SME’s) and BIM.
T&M performed the MEP/FP engineering as a subconsultant and will continue with Construction Administration services. T&M is also engineering the Mill Road improvements that will support the traffic to/from the new facilities.
