Project Overview
When the Bloomfield Water Department found elevated levels of lead in drinking water in some homes/buildings in the township T&M was tasked to provide engineering services for the replacement of 1,660 lead services.
These tasks included, pre-design, design and bidding services, construction administration and construction observation and NJEIT funding acquisition. The number of lead service replacements (LSLR) will be determined by the contractor during the initial phase of construction. The existing lead water service connections throughout the Township will be replaced with new copper service connections.
All replacement work throughout the Township will be done on existing roadways and/or right-of-ways and all impacted areas will be restored to their original grades and/or existing conditions. The replacement of lead service water connections is crucial in order to comply with current American Water Works Association (AWWA) standards.
