Project Overview
The Township of Pennsauken in constructing a new facility that will house the Library and Municipal Departments, as part of the New Jersey Library Construction Bond Act. The new 53,000 square foot facility has allowed 37,500 square feet of library and the balance for municipal spaces. A shared basement incorporates the various utilities and storage. The new facility is being constructed on the corner of North Crescent Boulevard and Merchantville Avenue, north of the existing library. As a subconsultant to RSC Architects, T&M is providing design, bidding, and construction administration for site/civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering services.
The structure is comprised on concrete on composite metal floor deck with composite steel framing. The roof structure is open web steel joist with metal roof deck, and has both upper and lower roofs. Mechanical systems include a hot water boiler plant and centralized variable air volume air handling units. The air handling units serve VAV boxes with hot water reheat coils to serve each zone. Perimeter hot water finned tube radiation is also provided, as well as heating systems for entry vestibules, stairs, and utility areas. Electrical systems include a standby generator and automatic transfer switch, and electrical distribution to serve all new receptacles, lighting, equipment, and fire alarm systems. Plumbing systems include sanitary piping to serve fixtures and equipment, domestic water heater and distribution systems to serve fixtures and equipment, natural gas piping to serve all gas-fired equipment, and roof drainage systems. The building is also going to be fully sprinklered.
