T&M was contracted to design new and upgraded traffic signal equipment improvements at eight separate intersections throughout the County as a part of Package X. The Transportation Practice compiled a database of the existing traffic volumes and crash frequencies existing at these intersections. This data was used to perform operational analyses and arrive at the optimal timing for the new signal installations. Design included utility locations, curb, ramp and bumpout design and sidewalks to satisfy the current ADA design guidelines. T&M also provided construction plan design, quantity takeoffs and technical specifications. Once the package was awarded for construction, T&M administered field inspection services all throughout the construction phase.
Five of the eight intersections involved the replacement of existing signal equipment with new state-of-the-art design features. Two of the intersections were upgraded from STOP sign control to full signalization.
Lastly, one of the intersections involved an upgrade of the existing equipment to include various vehicular and pedestrian indications as well as controller and wire replacement. All improvements were completed to adhere to the latest NJDOT, AASHTO and MUTCD standards.
