Project Overview

As part of its overall Electric Microgrid initiative, Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) entered into an agreement with Ameresco to develop and operate an 8 MW natural gas fired peak shaving power plant. The operation of the plant at strategic periods of time will result in cost savings for the microgrid operator and customers. In addition, the generator plant will provide electrical capacity to support the islanding of the microgrid during electric service interruptions.

Ameresco subsequently retained T&M Associates, as the Engineer of Record, to prepare the necessary civil, structural, mechanical and electrical raceway designs for the installation of the microgrid equipment, and design and construction services for 4 natural gas fired generators totaling 8 MW of natural gas peaking plant and connection of power supply to the Owner’s Substation 602 at 13.2kV. Our personnel also responded to RFI’s during the bid phase, performed on-site inspections, reviewed submittals, and assisted with other post award services. T&M also prepared the necessary applications for the Philadelphia Electric Company (PECO) Interconnect Application and City of Philadelphia Air Management Services permit application.
