Monica Wall & Regina Moser Lead Efforts to Secure $438K in Grants

Monica Wall, Municipal Supervising Engineer in T&M’s Bethlehem office, and Regina Moser, Municipal Staff Designer in our Philadelphia office, successfully secured three grants, totaling nearly $438K, for Wilson Borough.

Wilson Borough received a total of $325,000 in grants for tennis and pickleball courts in a park rehabilitation and development project. Northampton County awarded the Borough a $75,000 Livable Landscapes grant and the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) awarded Wilson Borough a $250,000 Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2) grant. The project includes the demolition of the existing tennis courts located in Meuser Park, reconstruction of two tennis courts and six pickleball courts, a parking lot, ADA and stormwater management improvements. The proposed stormwater management includes two raingardens, a vegetated swale, and areas of amended soils. Wilson Borough’s goal in reconstructing the courts and parking lot is to improve the usability of and accessibility to the courts, thereby creating inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities for the community.

The Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) Office of the US Department of Justice awarded Wilson Borough a $112,750 Community Policing Development (CPD) Program grant for the Supporting Law Enforcement Agencies in Seeking Accreditation program. The COPS funding will assist the Borough in obtaining accreditation through the Pennsylvania Enforcement Accreditation Commission (PLEAC), which will help the Police Department formally implement community policing. Community outreach programs will be developed to strengthen police relationships with the community, thereby improving communication and collaboration. Accreditation will assist with a cultural change within the community as the citizens will see the department as a partner in reducing crime or creating solutions for other safety issues.
