Engineering News-Record New York Recognizes Sarah Steib as a 2018 Top Young Professional

May 7, 2018

MIDDLETOWN, NJ – T&M Associates, a leading national engineering and technical services consulting company, announced that Supervising Engineer Sarah Steib has been recognized as a Top Young Professional of 2018 by Engineering News-Record (ENR) New York. This regional publication highlights extraordinary, up-and-coming leaders under the age of 40 in the construction and design industries. Applicants are judged on their experience, education, leadership skills and community service.

An accomplished leader and hands-on engineer, Steib has more than a decade of expertise in all areas of project development, from the preliminary design and concept stages, through final design and construction. Steib is a skilled manager of clients, people and projects who offers significant knowledge of complex bridges and structures. Throughout her career, she has been committed to responding to the challenges facing her clients and the public with innovative and reliable technical solutions.

Her experience includes an eight-year term serving as Project Manager of the $480M NJDOT Wittpenn Bridge replacement project where she was responsible for final design and construction phase services for a critical aspect of the site. She is currently the Project Manager providing construction administration and inspection services for the Seawall Restoration in Sea Bright and Monmouth Beach, NJ. This high-profile $40M multi-jurisdictional storm hardening project entails constructing, repairing or partially rebuilding portions of 9,230 LF of seawall and coordination with multiple stakeholders including both borough’s, NJDEP’s Bureau of Coastal Engineering, and FEMA. Steib has also been involved in a series of other noteworthy projects throughout New York and New Jersey including the Alexander Hamilton Bridge & Highbridge Interchange Ramps Rehabilitation, the Sunset Lake Park Footbridge and the reconstruction of Bridge U-33 and County Bridge K0402.

“Sarah has played a pivotal role in the expansion of T&M’s structures practice. Our clients have become very comfortable with Sarah’s management and technical capabilities, and rely on her pro-active approach. This model has positioned T&M for successfully securing additional key assignments. The Transportation group is proud to have such a dedicated and supportive team player,” said Donato Di Zuzio T&M’s Senior Vice President and Transportation Practice Leader.

When Steib is not seamlessly managing major projects and contributing to business development, she actively involves herself with T&M’s STEM initiatives, serving as a role model to our junior staff. Steib is also an advisor for the Gearing Toward Engineering Foundation, founded by NJIT students responsible for “Roxy the Fox and the Tree Truss Bridge,” a children’s book geared to elementary school students promoting STEM. Additionally, she is co-chair for the Women in Transportation (WTS) Greater New York Chapter’s mentoring program. “We applaud Engineering News-Record New York for recognizing everything that Sarah has managed to accomplish so early on in her engineering career,” said Gary Dahms, President & CEO.

Steib is a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) for the State of New Jersey. She earned a Master of Science in Structural Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Lehigh University. She resides in Fair Haven, NJ.
