The late Richard T. Noble and Richard M. Schulz ~ both registered Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors ~ founded T&M Associates in 1966. The two men had been part of the long-established (circa. 1890) practice of John W. Seaman & Sons, Long Branch, NJ.

Their new firm was based on the philosophy that integrity, professionalism, a commitment to their staff and a dedication to their clients' goals would be the keys to success. More than thirty years later that philosophy is still the foundation of T&M's success. The extraordinary talents of our staff, a dedication to quality, open and honest relationships with our clients and a practical understanding of the realities of budget and schedule define and distinguish T&M Associates.

In the early years, the firm grew rapidly to meet the needs of its clients; never, according to Mr. Schulz "for the sake of being big". Service to county and local government units was the initial focus of the firm. Now in its fourth decade, the firm still proudly serves many of those charter clients.

As the economy of the tri-state area expanded and new challenges were presented by technical complexity and a growing environmental awareness, the firm added professional capabilities and expanded its service pallet to encompass transportation, environmental, building design and real estate development services. During the 1990s, the assets of Robins Engineering and Henderson & Breen were acquired, expanding the firm's technical skills and geographical presence.

Having served more than 500 governmental and private clients, T&M Associates currently is consulting engineer or planner to dozens of municipalities and counties; the New Jersey Highway Authority; the New Jersey Turnpike Authority; the New Jersey Department of Transportation; and the United States Army Corps of Engineers.

T&M's private client base includes Merrill Lynch; Carnegie Center Associates; Nassau Park; Gale, Wentworth, & Dillon; Huber Hunt & Nichols; The Hills Development Company; Johnson & Johnson; Extended Care America; Toll Brothers; Bellemead Corporation; Pulte Homes; Home Depot; Walmart; Schering-Plough; Restaurant Associates; and Planet Hollywood.
