Nearly 1/3 of the Nation's
bridges are structurally or functionally deficient. T&M's
structural engineering staff is prepared to handle the task of
repairing or replacing these deficient bridges and highway related
structures. Members of the structural staff are highly experienced
in the design of new bridges as well as the inspection, rehabilitation
and widening of existing structures. This includes historic bridges,
steel multi-girder, box girder, curved girder, trusses, timber
bridges, prestressed and cast-in-place concrete structures, highway,
railroad and pedestrian bridges, tunnels and culverts on major
urban and toll expressways, state highways and local roadways.
T&M's staff has managed
multiple bridge repair and upgrading programs for the NJ Highway
Authority (NJHA), the NJ Turnpike Authority (NJTA), the NJ Department
of Transportation (NJDOT), Delaware River Port Authority (DRPA),
and has served numerous counties in NJ in the inspection/rehabilitation/replacement
of their bridges.
In addition to the staff's
vast bridge experience, T&M's structural engineering experience
covers a wide spectrum of disciplines such as dam/spillway analysis
and rehabilitation; historic structure restorations; toll plaza
design, expansion and repairs; retaining walls and bulkhead design;
coastal facility design; communication tower supports; and construction
engineering such as temporary structures, temporary sheeting
design, and many other unique structures.
Additionally, staff members
have managed the inspection and restoration of several historic
Delaware and Raritan Canal projects for the NJ Water Supply Authority,
NJDOT and the City of New Brunswick.
Some representative bridge design and inspection projects include:
- Fast track design of
two bridges and five culverts for Route 33 Freeway Bypass in
Freehold Township for the NJDOT
